Exploring the Beauty of Nature in Hong Kong #1 - Dragon's Back

The Youth Group of the Hong Kong Energy, Mining & Commodities Association plans to launch a series of hiking activities starting in 2025, with the first destination being the unique natural environment of Hong Kong—Dragon's Back, one of Hong Kong's top ten hiking trails. Located at the southeastern corner of Hong Kong Island, Dragon's Back winds along the Tai Long Wan area of the Shek O Country Park, offering breathtaking coastal views and lush scenery along the way. The trail is 9.5 kilometers long and of moderate difficulty, making it suitable for participants of all ages.

On January 18, 2025, we held our inaugural hiking event, aiming to provide a healthy way for youth group members to gather before the Chinese New Year, aptly themed "The End of the Year of the Dragon, Climbing the Dragon's Back." As we bid farewell to the Year of the Dragon, we also welcomed the arrival of the Year of the Snake, celebrating the beginning of a new year together. A total of 15 members participated that day, including families with young children, and everyone completed the 3-hour and 24-minute hike amidst music and laughter. After the event, we enjoyed a meal at a famous restaurant near Tai Long Wan, marking a perfect conclusion to our first hiking activity.

Next, we will organize a series of hiking events in preparation for the Hong Kong Oxfam Trailwalker's Challenge in November. We encourage all members to stay tuned and participate actively. We look forward to seeing you in the mountains in February!
