The Association held the "Mid-Autumn Moon-Chasing Celebration Dinner" on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at the Greater Bay Area International Exchange Center. President Huang Jianhua hosted the dinner for members, and together with Vice Presidents Chu Kong and Lau Yu, they sponsored a selection of fine wines for all attendees to enjoy.

At the beginning of the dinner, President Huang Jianhua delivered a welcome speech and took the opportunity to thank all members for their support. Following that, Ms. Monica Leung, Chairman of the Investment and Strategy Committee, reviewed the various activities recently organized by the association and the efforts made towards establishing LME warehouses in Hong Kong.
Over the past two years, the association has maintained close communication and cooperation with the LME. From June 26 to 27 of this year, the association was invited to attend the LME Asia Annual Meeting. In his opening speech at the meeting, HKEX CEO Bonnie Chan stated that they are exploring the possibility of designating Hong Kong as a location for LME metal warehouses, and he acknowledged the association's market promotion and preliminary work.
The association held the inaugural “Good Voices” event on June 19 and launched the “Exploring Zhongjin Lingnan” initiative on August 9, both of which received positive feedback and enthusiastic participation from members.

Subsequently, President Huang Jianhua presented certificates of appointment to the Honorary Chairman and Honorary Vice Chairman, and awarded certificates of appreciation to the volunteers. Following that, the members introduced themselves to one another at the table.

During the dinner, a brief member discussion was held, featuring Ding Long, Li Jinwen, Xu Jiachong, and Zhu Yi, who explored the impacts of U.S. interest rate cuts, AI data centers, and green energy demand, as well as supply-side disruptions on metal prices in both the short and long term. They concluded that the long-term trend for metal prices remains positive, driven by a warming global macroeconomic environment and increased demand stemming from artificial intelligence and the green revolution. However, in the short term, prices are expected to maintain a wide fluctuation after the rapid surge since the end of March.
